Missing Something?

Rumors say that Steve might not be telling all. Lack of supplies of the Intel Core Duo is at fault.

And he tells me the keynote that Jobs gave was not the keynote he had planned. Some of the speech had been cut out. Key products were missing.

My source said there was some stuff, “some very, very cool stuff,” that Jobs couldn’t unveil because of “supply issues.”

“They can’t get enough Core Duo (chips),” said my source.

He also said that if he were me, he probably wouldn’t order one of the new MacBook Pros.

I asked if there would be MacBook replacements for the 17-inch and 12-inch PowerBooks, but he said, “Oh, it’s much cooler than that. Much cooler.”

Call Of Duty 2 may be headed to the Mac. Previously only available on the Xbox 360, and PC, an Inside Mac Games reader discovered the news in his issue of Macworld Magazine.

At the bottom of an ad for Call of Duty: Deluxe Edition, a small advertisement for Call of Duty 2 boasts that the game will be, “Coming Soon”. This all but confirms that the first-person shooter will be coming to the Mac.

This is great news. I played Call Of Duty 2 on my friend’s PC this past weekend, and it was pretty good. It has a few new features that make game play alot more interesting.

10.5 At Macworld?

Currently Playing ~ Feel It | Black Eyed Peas | Monkey Business

TUAW thinks we possible, but not certianly, see 10.5, Leopard, at the 2006 Macworld Expo. There have been many rumors abuot what we will see there, but this is new. People are hoping for the first intel iBooks, and iMacs. Others think those won’t be until later in the year. Possibly a smaller iPod Shuffle, and a 1GB Nano. But what about Leopard?

Whoa whoa whoa, let’s put all this talk about Intel Macs on hold for a second and think about what we could also see at Macworld 06 in addition to - or instead of - new hardware: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. How much would that rock? I mean: Apple using new, faster Intel chips is cool, but I personally don’t believe the hardware makes the Mac experience - it’s all about the software in my book, so I’d be much more interested to see a more powerful, more refined, more everything version of OS X.

A couple of clues brought me to this post. The first is the fact that we know the next version of OS X is landing in 06, as Apple has already used it to fire a shot across Vista’s bow by announcing it would be out by late 06 or early 07. The second clue is from all the buzz surrounding Intel chips and new hardware. An introduction of Leopard at Macworld would be a fantastic “one more thing” and/or showstopper that no one - but me, of course - saw coming.

We shall have to wait and see.

Widescreen iBooks For January?

The 14in iBook may become a thing of the past. Think Secret thinks the 14in iBook will get replaced with a 13.3in widescreen version.

Apple appears on track to deliver an Intel-based iBook early next year, sources report, and in doing so will replace its long-standing 14.1-inch model with a widescreen 13.3-inch display.

The 13.3-inch widescreen iBook is said to sport a WXGA resolution of 1280×720, serving up about 15 percent more pixels than the current 14.1-inch model. Sources also note that the 12.1-inch model will continue to live on in iBook form factor, but that its days are numbered as a PowerBook configuration.

They also say 10.4.4 has been released to developers, and we should be seeing that soon.
