Fantasy Garage: Delorean DMC-12

Cars are more than a tool for transportation. They can be pieces of art, or amazing machines of performance.
The Delorean DMC-12 was built and designed by John Delorean in the early 1980s. They aren’t machines of massive performance, only 130HP from a V6, but the reason this is in my Fantasy Garage is the styling.

With unique styling, it has a very sleek profile not found in many cars from the ’80s. John Delorean got some help from the guys at Lotus with the design of the car, which is similar to the Lotus Espirit. Gull wing doors and a stainless steel skin gave it some very unique characteristics.
The car became somewhat more popular when it was seen in the movie Back To The Future, and that’s where I first saw one and decided I wanted one.
Although this is a limited production car, only 9,200 produced, it can be had for a fairly affordable price of around $20,000, or $30,000 for a mint condition one.
So maybe this one isn’t quite a fantasy, this one is somewhat affordable.
