The summer is just beginning. Instead of sitting around all summer, I want to get out and do something I haven’t done before, go someplace interesting. I was talking to one of my friends, and he was talking about climbing some mountains in Acadia National Park. Its not that far from me, probably a good day’s drive.
I’d want a week to go, so I’d have plenty of time to explore the park. If this does happen, I’ll be sure to bring my camera, and take plenty of pictures. Hoping to get some great views including some of the ones you can find on Flickr.

I recently got a laptop. Its a Compaq Presario V3000t. Its a nice little machine, slightly bigger than the MacBook, and about equal in specs with some of them. It came with Windows XP Home, but I wanted something different. OSx86 sounded good, but the computer has an unsupported chipset, so I went with the second best. Ubuntu Linux. I may switch to Ubuntu Studio in the near future though.
Set-up was pretty simple. Reboot with the install/live disc, and let it install. I had a little bit of a problem getting the wireless card to work, but a quick run-through of Ubuntu’s documentation and troubleshooting and I had it all working.
I don’t understand why anyone would want to use Windows over Linux. Linux has tons of support, and doesn’t come with all the bloat of Windows. It comes with all the major applications that you would need, including an office suite, image editor, and email.
If you are thinking about trying it out, stop thinking, and get to it. Its a huge improvement over Windows.

The Cadillac CTS-V has posted a record lap time on the Nurburgring. Just under 8 minutes, at 7:59.32, its the fastest production sedan around the track.

Just to put it in perspective, according to Wikipedia, the 2005 Aston Martin V8 Vantage did it in 8:03, the Dodge Viper SRT-10 lapped it at 7:59, and the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale posted a 7:56 lap time.
Maybe GM has figured out how to produce a decent performance car that can actually be usable. The Corvette is currently the only car they offer with any decent performance. Hopefully they have quality control under control on the CTS-V also.

Inquisitor has been bought by Yahoo!.

Inquisitor is the Spotlight for Safari. You can set it to search which ever search engine you want, and it comes back with pretty good results most of the time. Created by David Watanabe, it has been the recent target of some controversy because of Affiliate redirecting.
Not sure why Yahoo! would want this plugin, since it only works with Safari, but Wanatabe has stated that he is not joining the Yahoo! payroll, and will continue to develop his other applications, and also continue work on Inquisitor.

Another from my trip to Vermont. This is a grist mill we found near a large country store.
